I don’t know if the economy in game will be dynamic enough but building on another suggestion about stock and delivers you could own a warehouse that you stock with supply’s and vans then hire employees and assign them to supplying different businesses you own.
This could also mean you adding employees to replenish warehouse supply’s from wholesalers when levels drop below a certain level.
