Rivality & more comfortable ways to interact

Hi ! After more or less 75h of gameplay (love this game and the potentials) here some ideas that crossed my mind.

  • Rivality lack some ingenuity and is somewhat pale (it’s an alpha so no surprising)
    How about some more “directs” actions like disrupting business more openly (press scandal? offensive marketing? disrupt/steal delivery or stocks in rival’s shop? etc.). Or any other methods or means to directly influence their business?
    I particularly dislike the german woman from the first zone Ingrid Schneider, she played with her price to suffocate my early business, but that’s all. When i was richer, i tried stealing all her qualified employees, but even so the game was paused, she recruited instantly replacement, so no really any means to influence her business. All in all, some more actions to disrupt, steal/bother would be great, especially since some NPCs enjoy trashtalking and looking down on us :')

  • Here comes the second idea, how about a “back to previous window” key shortcut ?
    For example, when you try to clic on negotiate for a rival employee, it send you on the bizphone and you must go redo all the way to select the business you previously selected. Its quite small, but on the long run it’s a little frustating/tiring.

  • Myemployees app : it’s quite well done, but when you start having 300+ employees, it could be comfortable to have a more advanced filter at disposal. Like selecting only the employees from “Shop 1”. Not always having the full list of your employees.

  • It could be great to have a more convenient Storehouse Bizman Screen. Having the date and detail of the next delivery, having maybe the future dispatch from inventory to stores. In the long run, it can simplify the organisation of all the goods. I feel the storehouse screen is a little lacking. It could be cool to have maybe the possibility to command and manage your partnership with import directly on the screen. Once again it’s just a feeling, but on the long run, you end up navigating often between screens and those are some examples of unecessary back and forth.

  • In the “planning” of the shop, it could be convenient to have a filter more advances than just “hiding cleaning officers”, when you start managing huge shop, it could gain some time, especially since i can’t seem to understand how the “auto fill” of the planning is functionning ? Every time it leave blank some of the opening times and posts, even thought i can fill it completely manually (but again, with huge shop it takes lots of time).

  • Is there some default limitations ? It seems some shop automatically make 0$ on sunday and sometimes on saturday for some shops (jeweller, lawyer office…) even thought it is open. I can’t seem to know why? But i didn’t find any information about this in the F1 menu or in searching.

  • Employees demands and needs : Maybe in the building it could be convenient to have a button that lead us or shine the workstation of an employee. Example : Tom wants a phone, whatever it is. Goes to Tom’s status windows, clic on “button” (a button “workplace” ? “Workstation” …?) and that lead the camera or auto select the workstation of Tom so that we can add the phone, the computer screen, or whatever privilege he asks :slight_smile: Once again a convenient option on the long run, when we start having M1 building, or having a company HQ or lawyer office with 50+ Employees, it’s often hazarduous to look for the right workstation. Well, i saw some futures updates speaking of reworking the “interior designer” UI, so maybe it will be solved one way or another.

I think i share all my thoughts :slight_smile: Just so you know it’s a really fun and well made alpha regardless ! It’s the first time i like a game so much as participate in an alpha suggestion topic, but as i really liked startup company, i see so much more potential in big ambitions.

Hello! Glad you’re enjoying the game, those are some great ideas, and many of them are in the works in various forms, so that’s great!

Just so you know - yes, the rival does replace their employee, but with a much lower skill employee (especially if you poach their 100% employees), so it does actually impact their business still!

Hey, first of all, I agree with a lot of suggestions you made, and second, I’d like to add a few of my own.

  • Inventory & Pricing section, add a button for each product pops up a list of pricings in the same district by other stores and who the store belongs to
  • Map, add option to filter businesses by major rivals (that own them, or own the building - separate filters), makes it easier when looking to sabotage the competition
  • Rivals, add different relationships with rivals other than “didn’t notice you” and “this is war”, it is a little silly that instead of trying to make profit off of your existence when you’re small by working together and finding a compromise, a #1 rival decides your entire existence offends him the moment you start 3rd business in his district, the attack of not letting you rent buildings right away is obscene as first step
  • Headhunters, for high skill headhunters with high satisfaction (loyalty, 75%+), add option “poach employees from rival”, with same UI as the usual recruitment, but you specifically hire these people (without negotiating pay, you just set how much you’re willing to pay for a kind of employee) from your rival’s companies, this makes headhunters a lot more lucrative to hire in larger numbers
  • Marketing Department, add a marketing department of our own that can do marketing cheaper but requires larger initial investment, also can reach higher contribution of marketing than marketing companies if the investment is high enough, add an option to lead a slander campaign against rival’s business (give this option to rivals too), which inflicts negative marketing and has to be fought with positive marketing, however, it should take into account your own businesses in the sector vs rival’s, so if you own a tiny nightclub with absolutely terrible ratings, and you slander their M1 100% satisfaction nightclub, it should backfire
  • Rivals, have rivals react to other attacks on their business rather than just starting up your own businesses, rival should feel offended if you start a business that generates a lot of revenue for them, or if you poach their employees, if you two don’t even share same business focus, they should have very little issue with you
  • Rivals, have them fight each other too, including the minor businesses
  • Rivals, add options to actually interact with them somehow, even positive ways, for instance create contracts between each other, such as, I won’t touch your kind of business (say fast food restaurant) in Hell’s Kitchen, you won’t touch my lawyer firm. These contracts would build relationship and start out mostly beneficial for the rival, and if you developed relationship enough without offending the rival, they might instead become a partner and maybe even offer a merger
  • Business, let rivals offer to overtake our business and let us negotiate about the price, just the way we can with their businesses, sometimes it might be beneficial to actually sell them your business if it’s not making as much money as you’d like to and it suits their portfolio better, not to mention it opens a new kind of gameplay style you could try out, building up start-ups and selling off the companies to rivals
  • Real Estate, stop giving them buildings that are utterly unrealistic they could ever afford. Anyone explain to me how did Ingrid with her terrible weekly income ever come to afford a building worth 622m $? And how come I can bankrupt her when she’s apparently sitting on 600m in real estate she could pull out at any time?
  • Rivals + Gambling, once you cross a certain threshold of money and income, add option to invite other rivals for a higher leagues gambling, which instead of up to 100k goes up to 10M or can bet businesses, employees, etc.
