Overall game play and feel so far

So… last version I played was Beta 8. I am still looking forward to the release, but I wanted to share my opinion on the game so far. I really love your other game and know that you’ll produce a really fun game this time as well.

I hate to be a naysayer, but right now, the game just feels like all grind with very little reward. I only have about 80 hours in the game, so I may not have reached the level that feels good. I can also recognize that I could just be bad at the game, but everything seems to take a long time to do. The pacing seems a bit slow to me.

Additionally, the vehicle is a bit hard to control. I think I’ll try an actual controller and see if that helps at all.

Finally, getting the HQ set up was much harder than I think it should be. Again, I must not be good at the game, but clicking around in the menus to set up deliveries was a bit more difficult than it should have been.

I will once again say that overall the game looks like it will be fun. I would never post a negative review for this one… I really think there is a lot of potential and I love the games you all make. Maybe this one just isn’t for me, or the pacing will get ironed out later. I certainly don’t wanna flame you all.

As much as I love the game, this is very true. The reward for all the grind is more money so you can grind even bigger things, faster. You have 2 businesses? Good, make 10. Those are good, now? Make 100. I still love the game, but you’re right, there isn’t a goal you’re working toward other than “more”.

Of course, you can now buy big things like the Yacht and Real Estate, but those are mostly just ways to showcase all the “more” you achieved.

The pacing seems a bit slow to me.

Interesting - personally I feel you can control the pacing based on how you want to play. If you want to get loans and open multiple stores at once, you can really rapidly accelerate and be a millionaire in the first year. But there’s a risk with starting so much at once that if something goes wrong, the whole thing can all tumble down.

Additionally, the vehicle is a bit hard to control.

That’s definitely a common complaint!

Finally, getting the HQ set up was much harder than I think it should be.

That’s interesting. One big challenge is that the HQ delivery system needs to be able to handle a huge operation. In my largest game, I had over 1400 employees, nearly 100 business, and 13 warehouses. Having that level of complexity in the HQ is needed at that level.

But when you have two shops, it’s definitely a bit complicated. Another suggestion I’ve seen a lot is to have a store manager for each location. Perhaps this would fix your issue - the store manager could be a simpler interface for when you’re small, and then the big, complicated HQ could be for when you have more like 10 businesses.

Thanks for the feedback, it’s much appreciated!

Sounds like we’re on the right path, even tho the game might not be for everyone, I think most of what you mention is simply due to the early stage of the game. Also, 80 hours is probably in the very high end to be honest

I hope you’ll give it all a spin again in 6 months’ time. I’m pretty sure we’ll have put much more effort into the late stage of the game by then.

You are very welcome, and like I said, I am rooting for your success. Hopefully something I said was constructive. I like the concept. I think I’d enjoy it more if some more of the tedium was gone. That being said, in the “8 types of fun” concept… one is “submission” where players enjoy grinding… not so much for me. The discovery aspects of the game are fun.
