ISP Provider / IT company

Hello

What would be cool if you can launch an IT company that does some service hosting e.g. mail and you can own a data center. Would be cool to setup the datacenter also with racks, cooling, video surveillance etc. and if you fulfil all these requirements you can get your data center certified which adds interest for more companys to host there.
Also you need IT Support and system engineers to run everything.

Best regards

This would be good as well as the option of running a pay tv company which goes hand in hand with isp.

I would love to run an ISP!

Overview:
Step into the world of IT consulting and build your own empire! Manage different IT service businesses, from system administration and helpdesk support to networking, cybersecurity, and AI development. Choose to specialize in one field or create a full-scale consulting firm that offers all services under one brand.

Gameplay Features:

  • Business Specialization: Start with a single IT service (e.g., helpdesk, system administration) and expand into new areas as you grow.
  • Multi-Business Management: Run multiple separate companies, each focusing on a specific niche, or consolidate them into a single headquarters for a premium cost.
  • Client Contracts & Reputation: Secure contracts with clients, deliver high-quality IT solutions, and build your company’s reputation to attract bigger clients.
  • Technology & AI Integration: Invest in research and AI-driven solutions to automate services, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
  • Competitive Market & Rival Firms: Compete with AI-controlled firms or other players (in multiplayer mode) to dominate the IT consulting industry.
  • Customization & Expansion: Hire specialists, upgrade offices, and optimize workflows to maximize profits.

Strategic Choices:

  • Go Niche or Go Big? Specialize in high-profit sectors like AI development or provide a wide range of services as a full IT consultancy.
  • Single HQ vs. Multiple Firms: Running multiple independent businesses costs extra but offers flexibility. A central HQ is more efficient but requires significant investment.
  • Service Expansion: Do you reinvest in better infrastructure, train employees, or acquire competitors to dominate the market?

Monetization Model (Optional):

  • Single-player campaign & sandbox mode
  • Multiplayer competition with ranked leaderboards
  • DLCs with advanced tech (cloud computing, ethical hacking, blockchain security, etc.)

I saw the post from @ambitionah about an ISP and IT company, and I think it is a great concept, but I believe it would fit the game better if focused on datacentres rather than traditional internet services.

Datacentres would add a new layer of business depth that aligns perfectly with the management, property, and HQ features already discussed in my earlier suggestion about executives and advisors.

Concept
Players could begin small by setting up a server room inside an office. This would include a few racks, basic servers, and minimal cooling, enough to handle limited hosting contracts and small-scale operations.

As the business develops, players could expand into warehouses to establish full datacentres with proper infrastructure. Cooling systems, power backups, and environmental controls would need to be installed and maintained.

Technicians and engineers would handle maintenance and daily operations, while executives and advisors (introduced in the HQ feature post) would oversee contracts, performance, and automation upgrades as the company grows.

Integration with Existing and Future Businesses
A datacentre could connect naturally with other business types already in the game or likely to be added in future updates.

  • Web Development and Hosting - Players running web development companies could host their client sites in their own datacentres, creating long-term recurring income.
  • Corporate Clients - AI companies could rent server space or sign dedicated hosting agreements, with uptime requirements and client expectations influencing revenue and reputation.
  • Internal Use - The player’s own businesses could use the datacentre to handle internal hosting, data storage, and network infrastructure, improving efficiency and reducing outside costs.

HQ Integration: Technology Division
The datacentre could be managed through a dedicated Technology Division at HQ.

This division would be responsible for:

  • Developing automation systems for datacentres and factories.
  • Researching new energy and cooling technologies.
  • Overseeing cybersecurity and data protection.
  • Managing technology contracts and partnerships.

Executives and advisors would report on uptime, risks, and system efficiency, creating a strong link between HQ and operational businesses.

Events and Risks
Running a datacentre would involve realistic challenges that add variety to gameplay, including:

  • Power failures without proper generators.
  • Cooling issues affecting uptime or hardware performance.
  • Data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Hardware faults or maintenance failures.
  • Client penalties for failing to meet service levels.

These could be triggered randomly or result from poor investment or upkeep, forcing players to balance risk against cost.

Expansion and Automation
Players could expand their operations in several ways:

  • Add additional server racks or upgrade to higher-capacity systems.
  • Improve cooling and install energy-efficient infrastructure.
  • Lease unused capacity to AI companies for steady revenue.
  • Invest in automation to reduce staffing requirements.

Older hardware would consume more energy and create more heat, while new technology would cost more but offer higher performance and reliability.

Late-Game Opportunities
At scale, the datacentre business could evolve into a cornerstone of the player’s empire:

  • Expanding into cloud hosting, cybersecurity, or managed IT.
  • Linking directly with factory automation or logistics control systems.
  • Selling or floating the company as a major corporate asset.
  • Building multiple datacentre locations for redundancy and contracts with higher service expectations.

Overall
A datacentre business would feel right at home in Big Ambitions. It combines property, staffing, and finance while fitting neatly into the HQ structure already being discussed. It would also introduce a proper Technology Division, responsible for innovation, automation, and data management, giving players a new way to expand beyond retail, food, and service industries into infrastructure and advanced business management.

TLDR
Building on @ambitionah’s ISP idea, I believe a datacentre-focused business would fit Big Ambitions perfectly.

  • Start with small server rooms in offices, expanding into full datacentres in warehouses.
  • Employ technicians and engineers, with executives and advisors managing larger operations once HQ systems are added.
  • Integrate hosting for web development, corporate clients, and internal businesses.
  • Include realistic risks such as power loss, data breaches, and hardware faults.
  • Add scalability, automation, and environmental efficiency features.
  • Introduce a Technology Division at HQ to oversee IT, research, and automation across the company.

This concept builds directly on my previous feature suggestion about HQ roles and executives, creating a natural link between technology, property, and business growth.
