Factory improvements

I’ve recently started playing the game again after a few months and really loved it (again). There’s a few hiccups that kind of remove the fun for me, most of them based on the current factory system. This is mainly because you are forced very quickly to start manufacturing your own things, because the importers just do not have enough stock, which makes the factory system an important part of the mid/late game, but in my opinion this system is not keeping up with the fun of the rest of the game, so my suggestion is making factories easier to build/manage. A few problems/solutions:

  • A splitter that stays on the same grid: The current splitter makes the items go 0.5 to the right or to the left, it might come in handy to have a splitter that stays on the same grid (1 to the right or the left), so conveyors can keep connecting. This can also be fixed with a half conveyor, but then there’d be problems with merging and rotating with these conveyors.
  • A tunnel/bridge conveyor so conveyors can cross eachother. My main problem with the current system is that I have to hire 300 employees for one factory because I need 4 inputs for every Consumer Goods Assembly Machine, since the conveyors would otherwise need to cross. This means getting a new factory requires, apart from the 300 factory workers, 6 new HR managers with golden health insurance and 3 new headhunters.
  • Inventory management system. I’ve got a warehouse right now with 130,000 audio modules, 110,000 small screens and 110,000 molded smartwatches, which is just cluttering up the warehouse. It would be nice to be able to automatically turn a production line off when there’s a certain amount of surplus.
  • Fast food items are too hard to craft/too slow. I would need 17 burger lines to keep up with the demand i have. All these machines would not fit in the biggest warehouse in the game right now, meaning i’d need about 6 of the biggest warehouses for fastfood, which is making me less than $500,000. This can also be brought back to the absurd amount of employees, requiring atleast 68 employees for the consumer goods assembly machines alone.
  • Small factor/suggestion: having to set every recipe manually (even in blueprint editor) can take a lot of time, maybe implement multi-selecting or make the machines detect the inputs for the recipe?

Be sure to check out EA 0.10, which is in experimental branch right now

Yea i just saw the announcement on steam, it’s absolutely amazing that the only improvements I could think of were already planned for the next update! This might just be my favourite game :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
