Windows 10 Crashed - Corrupted Saves

Good afternoon BA community :slight_smile: ,

Unfortunately, my Windows 10 (64 bits) crashed & all my saves are now corrupted.

There is a similar topic existing where the member did narrow it down to “recover2.hsg”. It appeared to work for him, unfortunately not for me.

My question is :
As I do have all the saves in the local files, how can I do to get my clean save back ? it’s a bit disappointing as I spent so much time on my diverse businesses, just wanted to ask the community before eventually starting again from scratch.

That’s very unfortunate that it crashed! This doesn’t fix the files, but make sure you have downloaded the newest version of the game - the previous version had a memory leak that caused frequent crashes!

You could try to move most of the save-game files to another location (so you don’t lose them), and then only keep the most recent one in the save-game location to see if it is perhaps one file that’s corrupting everything.

Also - not sure if you tried this already, but when you try to load the saved-game, you could try to hit that radio dial for “recovery saves” and see if the most recent recover save will load (they appear underneath that session’s “normal” saves).

Yes, correct - those are the saved game files. Hopefully there’s still a working one in there that you can reload so you don’t lose everything! :crossed_fingers:

Hmmm… I’ve tried them all unfortunately, none is working.

This doesn’t help the lost saved games situation, but a memory leak issue that was causing frequent crashing has been fixed, so if you were still using an older version of the game, that might have been the issue. If you download the current build (1478), that issue has been resolved.

Indeed I did it, but still corrupted even with the last fix. :frowning:
I think I need to start from scratch…

Can we speak w/ Devs directly on such a problem ?

The devs do visit the forums, but maybe not as much on the weekend. Just yell “Dev team, Dev team, Dev team” and click your heels, and they should appear within a couple days.

You can send it to [email protected]

The folder is located at 'C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\Hovgaard Games\Big Ambitions' for Windows, you can .zip the ‘SaveGames’ folder and attach it to the email

Sadly the same thing happened to me yesterday. The only difference is, that my Windows didn’t crash.
But all my save files are corrupted. I tried everything but afters 1-2 Hours i was so mad that i started from beginning. Now i am almost there where i was before the Crash. But its really a shame :frowning:

Do you remember what version you were running? Was it the newest beta 9 version (that came out early yesterday)? Or an older one?

I Downloaded the new Version yesterday, started it, played a few Minutes, closed the Game and after i started again, nothing works for me

Oh wow, that’s not good if it’s on the new one! The devs will have to look into this for sure!

Yes! and i am scared to death that this could be happened again… I Save my game now multiple times in different names. I lost to much :frowning:

Gosh. it did happen AGAIN. all my business are gone.

Please fix this asap, as it happened now on the Steam Beta version !

Does this also wipe your steam cloud saves and autosaves and everything?

And to confirm - you’re no longer on the beta versions, right? You’re on the Steam EA version?

Steam version confirmed - regular one, with no Beta selected in the parameters.

It doesn’t wipe it but it says that my saves are corrupted - they are available on steamcloud though. (also in the local file of the game).

However it says that my file is corrupted & proposes me to chose between 3 options:

  • Trying to open it still
  • Placing the corrupted save in another folder
  • Deleting the corrupted file.

When I try to open it, it doesn’t do anything.

I am an idiot user being idiot.

My bad & here is the explanation : Just keep the game updated on steam & you won’t have any problem !

Sorry for the devs & community, I got my saves back & all is working fine :slight_smile:
