I guess it’s just the income statement that is a little confusing with how it is displayed. Maybe if the columns were just renamed or a bit clearer it would make more sense.

Completely agree, there! This is definitely one of the bigger/more common confusions and frustrations- especially when people think they are being doubled charged!
